Mail Delivery issue hits BigPond users

  • Hundreds of emails affected
  • Emails being bounced back to sender
  • Linked to an issue with spam blacklisting

Telstra is investigating an outage affecting hundreds of email addresses on the BigPond network today, according to a report from Australian website ITNews.

E-mails to the @bigpond.com addresses are bouncing back to senders with a failed delivery notification. The issue appears to be linked to a Telstra server accidentally being placed on a spam blacklist used by many anti-virus applications.

The issue has affected a very small percentage of BigPond customers and is expected to be resolved shortly. Customers using web-based email domains, such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail, will not be affected.
