Australia’s biggest internet plans compared
In the last few months Australian internet service providers have been battling it out for the title of ‘ISP offering Australia’s biggest download plan.’ The latest trend on the broadband market has been the war of the terabyte (1000GB). These plans offer so much download that they are comparable to some of the unlimited plans available at the moment. Below is a comparison of Australia’s biggest download plans.
iiNet ADSL2+ Home 4 Bundle
This new plan offers 1 terabyte of data for $99.95 per month. The data is split between peak and off peak, with 500GB allocated for each time slot. Peak hours are from 9am till 1am, and both uploads and downloads are counted toward the monthly quota. If you manage to eat through the terabyte within the month, your speed will be shaped to 256kbps. You’ll need to bundle your broadband service with an iiNet home phone to be eligible for this plan. To find out if you are eligible with iiNet’s ADSL2+ service, call 1300 106 571.
iiNet ADSL Home 6 Bundle
This 1 terabyte plan is a rare find for ADSL1 customers. ADSL1 customers are generally situated in regional or outer suburban areas, and unfortunately are usually not treated to large downloads...until now. This plan offers the highest speed available to ADSL1 customers (8000k/384kbps) while offering one of the largest downloads for an ADSL1 plan. The bundle deal is reasonably priced at $119.95 per month. Customers can download 500GB during peak hours and 500GB during off peak hours before their speed is shaped to 256kbps. Both downloads and uploads are counted toward the monthly quota, and peak hours are from 9am-1am. You’ll need to bundle your broadband service with an iiNet home phone to be eligible for this plan.
iPrimus QUAD-1 Broadband Plan
iPrimus has launched a 1.1 terabyte plan available to ADSL2+ and Naked DSL customers for $99.95 and $119.95 per month respectively. Again, both downloads and uploads are counted toward the monthly quota, which is split between peak (511GB) and off peak (600GB). Peak hours are from 10am till 2am. The plans are available on a 24-month contract, and for a limited time iPrimus is offering to waive the installation fees to celebrate the launch of the massive plans. They are available in iPrimus network areas only – to find out if you are eligible, please call 1300 137 794.
TPG ADSL2+ 500GB Premium Bundle
TPG’s home phone and broadband plan allows customers to forget about peak and off peak hours, with the monthly download quota of 500GB being available to use at any time. The plan costs $69.99 per month and includes line rental. Only downloads are counted toward the monthly quota, leaving you to do as much uploading as you like. If you exceed the 500GB your broadband will be slowed down to a decent speed of 1mbps. Customers can connect to this plan even if they don’t have a home phone already connected. The plan however is only available in certain areas, so please call us on 1300 106 571 to find out if you are eligible.
TPG ADSL2+ Unlimited 24x7 (if phone line is already connected with another provider)
TPG’s unlimited plan offers no shaping speed once you reach a certain download quota – it’s truly an unlimited plan. It’s available for only $79.95, and is eligible to customers in areas covered by TPG ADSL2+, and who already have an active phone line. The plan is available on either a 12-month ($59.95 setup) or 18-month (no setup fee) contract. To find out if you are eligible for this plan, please call us on 1300 106 571.
The specifications for these plans are current as of August 2010, and are subject to change at any time.
