Telstra BigPond fixes email outage

Telstra BigPond claims to have fixed a problem that left customers without email for four days.

The disruptions to email accounts affected customers on dial-up, cable, satellite, Next G and ADSL services nationally.

According to Telstra, a problem with a server last Monday triggered the issues. Many customers were unable to log in at first and could not receive or send emails for days.

Visitors to Telstra's website were told: "Some customers may experience issues accessing their accounts.

"Technicians are treating this issue as a priority and are working on the problem. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you."

However, a spokesperson told IT news website iTnews, today "everything is back to normal".

Telstra's service status page now shows no current disruptions to any of its systems.

Telstra said last week that emails had been saved and will be sent on to customers once the systems were restored.
