Exetel removes off-peak times from ADSL plans

Exetel has just changed its ADSL and ADSL2+ plans, which it provides via the Telstra, Optus, or AAPT telephone infrastructures. Exetel’s new plans dissolve previous off-peak time periods and do not count uploads towards your monthly data limit.

Exetel ADSL1 plans on the Telstra network:

ADSL 256kbps:

$27 a month on a 6-month contract with data charged at $1.00 per GB. This plan costs $25 to transfer over from another broadband provider’s ADSL or ADSL2+ plan, or $120 to set-up if you don’t already have an ADSL connection. No data is included, as it’s a “pay what you use” fee structure.

ADSL 1500kbps: There are several ADSL 1500kbps options.

1.    $36 a month plus $1.00 per GB (no included data).
2.    $40 a month for 20GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
3.    $45 a month for 50GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
4.    $50 a month for 120GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.

ADSL 8192kbps: There are numerous ADSL 8192kbps options.

1.    $42.50 a month plus $1.00 per GB (no included data).
2.    $50 a month for 50GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
3.    $60 a month for 120GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
4.    $70 a month for 220GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.

These ADSL1 plans are all stand-alone broadband connections, which you’ll need to combine with an active Telstra landline (or another telephone provider that uses the Telstra network). If you already have an active phone number you have the option of bundling one of these plans with Exetel’s $20 per month phone line rental. This ADSL1 bundle option comes on a 12-month contract period.

Exetel ADSL2+ Bundle plans on the Optus network:

These plans come on 12-month contracts with a free set-up, and the price quoted includes phone line rental.

1.    $40 a month plus $1.00 per GB (no included data).
2.    $50 a month for 20GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
3.    $60 a month for 40GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
4.    $75 a month for 150GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
5.    $85 a month for 250GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
6.    $95 a month for 350GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.

Exetel ADSL2+ stand-alone plans on the AAPT network:

These Exetel plans come on 12-month contracts and cost $95 to set-up. You need to already have your telephone connected with another provider, which usually costs an extra $30 per month. However, when you already have an active telephone number you can transfer the phone service over and get an Exetel $20 landline to form a bundle.

1.    $30 a month plus $1.00 per GB (no included data).
2.    $40 a month for 20GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
3.    $50 a month for 40GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
4.    $65 a month for 150GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
5.    $75 a month for 250GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.
6.    $85 a month for 350GB with excess data charged at $1.00 per GB.

All of these Exetel plans allow users to access their data limit 24 hours a day, with uploads not being counted towards your monthly quota. You can also get discounts on your plan if you bundle the connection with an Exetel “Capped” mobile phone service.

Exetel plans come with a free VoIP phone number (VoIP calls cost 10 cents to any landline in Australia and are untimed), static IP address, 30 email addresses and 200 MB of web space. You can also send SMS text messages from your computer’s keyboard for 7 cents per 160 character message, and Faxes in the same way for 10 cents per Fax for the initial page, then 3 cents per page thereafter.
