Westnet joins the ranks of broadband providers offering fetchtv IPTV

Westnet customers will now be able to access fetchtv services as an add-on option to their ADSL or ADSL2+ broadband plan. Westnet is following in the footsteps of its parent company iiNet, both of which are located in Perth, WA. All Fetchtv content streams can be watch unmetered, with the data used not being counted towards your monthly data quota.

Westnet fetchtv1 Package:

This option is for Westnet’s ADSL1 customers. You get a set-top box supporting pay-per-view movie rentals (from $3.95), plus its aerial has a triple-tuner PVR, which will allow you to receive and record free-to-air digital broadcasts. You can also access your Facebook and Twitter accounts from the console. This Westnet fetchtv1 package costs $14.95 per month.

Westnet fetchtv2 Package:

Westnet ADSL2+ customers can sign up to the Westnet fetchtv2 package plan for $29.95 a month, including set-top box rental. Or, you can buy the set-top box outright for $399 and then pay $19.95 a month for the service.

The fetchtv2 package has everything the fetchtv1 plan has, but you also get to choose one free movie per month out of 30 movies (seven new films are added each week). You can access numerous news and entertainment content sites too.

Fetchtv channels include: Fox Sports News, BBC World News, CNBC Australia, France 24, Al Jazeera, Euronews, NDTV 24x7, CCTV News, Bloomberg TV, DW-TV Asia+, National Geographic, Nat Geo Adventure, Discovery Science, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Turbo, TLC, Animal Planet, MTV, MTV Classic, MTV Hits, BabyTV, E!, CityTV, Manchester United TV, Chelsea TV, and Barca TV, and Real Madrid TV will be added shortly.

You get access to on-demand shows from Warner TV, Gekko TV, Frontiers, HiJinx, Profiles, Chronicles and Earth Touch. There are extra add-on channels starting at $9.95 a month for foreign language channels such as Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Filipino, and Korean.

Westnet CTO Greg Bader said about the fetchtv add-on: "Never before has it been so easy for regional residents to access such fantastic content in the comfort of their lounge room. There's no need for installing cables and satellite dishes, it's simply a case of maximising an existing broadband connection … Plus, we offer a quality control guarantee, so there are no pixilated screens or buffering delays – it's crystal clear television on your TV, on demand."

Note: These Westnet fetchtv services are only available on specific plans in selected locations, and they require a compatible modem. Westnet recommends the iiNet BoB modem/router.
