I live in Port Macquarie and I want to get ADSL2+ for around $30 a month only need about 2-5 GB.
I want to make sure service is good, and have contacted Club Telco but I am worried about the quality of service in my area. I am on pension and don't use internet much. Thanks, Claire
The speed and quality of internet does not solely depend on the internet service provider (ISP) that you sign up with, but rather that of the geographical distance btween your home to the phone and internet exchange. As such, the speed and service will depend on how close you live to the Port Macquarie exchange (located at 11 Grant Street.)
The only way in which you can be told the estimation of the quality of internet speed and service within your area is to call the ISP of your choice directly, as they will be able to search and see the speed that you should be averaging at. As a general guide however, all providers regardless of their commercial size should be offering around 20Mbps for ADSL2+.
If you were wanting to sign up for ADSL2+ as part of a phone bundle, which is generally a cheaper option due to the competition in the market, there are some options available. Dodo have a ADSL2+ 10GB plan plus $29.90 home phone line rental, for $9.90 for 24 months. TPG offers ADSL2+ 20GB broadband plan plus $30 phone line rental, for $9.99 for a 6-month contract.
If you were not looking to be on a plan there are also some cheaper options. Dodo provide an ADSL2+ 10GB plan for $27.90 for 24 months. Eftel offers a ADSL2+ BroadbandMax10 10GB plan without a contract for $29.99 per month.
For other deals regarding both phone bundle and ADSL2+ plans, you can call Compare Broadband on 1300 106 571.
