Hi there, My house mate and I are wanting 20-30 GB/ month at the best price.
We would love not to be locked into a contract longer than 12 months (6 months would be ideal). We do not have a land line (nor do we want one). Can you please let us know what type of internet we need to be looking for (...is it 'naked broadband?'), and if possible, recommend any suitable deals? Look forward to hearing from you, Michelle P.S. We live in a suburb called 'Yeerongpilly' in QLD, having a good connection is important to us. Many thanks!

Hi Michelle,
I’ve just made some initial checks on your suburb and you’re approximately 2km away from your closest exchange. This means that no matter which provider that you sign up with, your speed should be quite fast and you shouldn’t have very much issue in regards to disconnection or lagging. You have two options available to you, one that includes line rental and one that does not.
If you wish to sign up for a plan without a phone line, a Naked DSL plan is for you. Naked DSL is an individual process- your provider needs the phone line to be activacted previously for it to work, where it is then turned off to make room for an internet connection to control it entirely.
Naked DSL is rather expensive, with prices starting at $49.99 a month for 20GB and will go up from there. If you don’t have an active phone line, the following internet providers can organise a Naked connection for you:
Optus: 1300 137 897
Dodo: 1300 136 793
MyNetFone: 1300 106 571
iPrimus: 1300 137 794
The other option you have is bundling your home phone and internet. Bundling means that you have to pay for line rental but the phone line is left activated instead of being turned off. This means that you have the option of being able to make calls from a land line, but you do not have to make any. Bundling home phone and internet is a lot cheaper than Naked DSL, so I would recommend this option and not use the phone rather than signing up for a Naked DSL plan.
Some different bundles include Dodo's Unlimited plan plus $42.90 home phone line rental with unlimited GBs on a 0-month plan; Optus has Fusion 120GB ADSL2+ Broadband plan plus a free home phone standard modem for $79.00 per month on a 24-month contract and TPG's best bundle is ADSL2+ Unlimited broadband plan plus $30 monthly phone line rental on a 6-month contract for $29.99 per month.
Dodo can be contacted on 1300 136 793, Optus can be contacted on 1300 137 897 and TPG queries can be answered by us at CompareBroadband on 1300 106 571.
Thanks,
