If I go ADSL2+ naked, what can I get in the way of VOIP, do I need a PC or Mac turned on continuously, do I need a new number?

I currently use Skype but their prices have more than doubled in recent months. I need a setup that is not locked in and that will give me phone and internet for less than $60/month.

If you get VoIP you will not need to keep your Mac or PC turned on continuously - because it will be used with ADSL broadband (a filter separates the phone and modem), the connection is not lost when you switch off your computer. Unfortunately, you cannot always port your number over when you switch to VoIP, so ask your provider if it is possible. I would check out TPG's Naked DSL plans as they have high downloads for less than $60 a month. Give us a call on 1300 106 571 for more information on TPG plans. iiNet also has some great Naked plans, which you can bundle with VoIP for an extra $9.95 for cheap phone calls. iiNet can also package in BoB, a wireless modem combined with a home phone handset. Give iiNet a call on 1300 769 169 to find out if its Naked plans are available in your area. Engin is another great broadband and VoIP provider. You can bundle broadband and VoIP together, or simply select a VoIP plan to use with your existing Internet Service Provider (ISP). Call Engin on 1300 121 064.
