Hi Margaret,
TPG's $69.99 Superchat unlimited Bundle (Call 1300 106 571) includes Unlimited data, Unlimited calls to any landline phone number in Australia (local and STD), 100 free minutes of calls to international numbers and a free Wi-Fi capable modem. It is available on a 24 month contract only, and the only payment method available is monthly direct debit (either from a bank account or credit card).
The total connection fee is $110. $80 of that is to pay for a technician to organize the line connection at the exchange (and in some cases, at your home). $10 is a delivery fee for the modem. The other $20 is a phone line deposit that stays as credit for your telephone service. When you make calls that aren't included with the plan (calls to 13 numbers and calls to mobiles) the fee will be deducted from this $20 balance. When your balance reaches $5, it will be topped up via direct debit.
This plan is widely available for metro and large regional areas. It's one of the better plans out there, but there's a few others that compete well with it.
Eftel's Unlimited Duo plan (call 1300 106 571) is slightly better value. For $80 a month, you receive the same benefits as TPG's plan, but with calls to mobiles included. It is also on a 24 month contract only, but can be paid via bPay. It comes with a free connection and free Wi-Fi capable modem. Unfortunately, it is not as widely available as TPG's plan, so best to call and first get a coverage check. If unavailable, Eftel does have alternative plans that offer great value.
Optus' Fusion Bundles (Call 1300 303 795) are a little pricier, but offer good value and the security of going with one of Australia's largest telecommunications providers. Optus is also a great option if you're looking to bundle in a mobile phone plan and a new handset- Optus carries just about every new and exciting handset coming into Australia, and they're now improving on their network with a 4G rollout.
Thanks,
Adam, Compare Broadband
