My friends and I have a 16 week lease in Jindabyne NSW over winter and would like no contract broadband.
There'll be 6 of us using a lot of data and do not require home phone. Mobile broadband is useless in Jindabyne during winter as all the mountain staff have it and the service drops out when everyone gets home after 5pm. Just want to know which providers will offer no contract plans in that area with higher speeds and data limits. We can provide our own modem/router. Luke.

Hi Luke,
It sounds like you've got your priorities sorted out. Generally the first thing we recommend to any customer is that they know exactly what they're looking for, so it's good that you've established what you need.
There are two options here for you. You can try finding a provider who does cheap bundle deals, and ignore the home phone. Lots of people think that getting Naked Broadband – ADSL2+ without the home phone – is a cheaper alternative to a bundle deal because, they presume, they're not going to be paying for line rental.
However, the copper line that runs into your house carries both internet and your phone connection, meaning that – hey, guess what! If you have an ADSL connection, you're going to be paying for line rental. Usually providers will charge you the same price or a slightly more expensive one for Naked DSL as opposed to your standard bundle plan. This is for a whole range of reasons, like the lack of unexpected revenue from calls and the extra price and work involved in setting up a naked connection.
A better idea is often to set yourself up with a bundle and just don't use the home phone – then there's no way you can rack up any phone bill. I'd recommend the following providers for good inexpensive bundles without contracts.

If you're set on Naked Broadband, one of the best providers to go for is MyNetFone. MyNetFone are providers who specialise in Naked Broadband, meaning that they offer some of the best deals around and really focus on what you can get out of Naked Broadband, rather than offering a naked connection as an afterthought for those customers who don't want a home phone.
They also specifically boast a low contention ratio, which means that they don't shove too many customers onto the same pipeline. Contention ratio is one of the factors that directly influences your speed, along with your distance from the telephone exchange and the quality of the copper line into your house, and most providers rarely mention contention ratio at all, as there is no legal obligation for them to do it. The very fact that MyNetFone offer this information upfront speaks highly in their favour.
MyNetFone also offer 0-month contracts. You can call them now to find out more or sign up on 1300 106 571.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to call us on 1300 106 571.
Mikaella.
