My current ISP plan finishes on 30 June. I would like to sign up for a one-year ADSL2+ Superfast Medium and would like to know what I need. I figure it is easier to do it while still connected! My area supports ADSL2+ - how do I go about switching? I have a landline - so what's with the $1.00 line rental? Or should I go with the 500GB plan with uploads and downloads counted - is that per month or per year?

It sounds like you are after a TPG plan. Although we are not TPG, at Compare Broadband we can tell you all about TPG as well as other leading Internet Service Providers (ISPs). For this particular plan, you will need: 1. To organise direct debit at the time of signup. This can either be through a credit card or bank account (when you provide your BSB/account number). 2. A modem - If you don't already have an ADSL2+ compatible modem you can purchase a standard modem from TPG for $79.95, or a wireless modem for $159.95. These prices include delivery. If you would like to switch your landline over from Telstra to TPG, TPG has $1 line rental when you agree to a minimum $10 call spend each month. This would mean your monthly payment is a minimum of $60.99 a month plus any further call charges incurred. The home phone bundle is available for an 18-month contract term only. 500GB plan is per month - yes, it's very large! If you don't think you use too much upload, this plan will be great. Keep in mind this amount is split between peak and off peak (150GB+350GB). However, even if you do exceed your cap, speed slows down to 1mbps which is still relatively good. If you want to switch to TPG, just give us a call on 1300 764 000 and we can sign you up over the phone.
