I am looking for the best value mobile broadband plan.
I will not be at this address for more than 12 months. I want Telstra reliability and download speeds but not their prices! I was told Virgin had good prices but reviews say they are poor quality. I'm probably looking for 10 GB and have the ability to go up and down plans as I establish what a consistent usage I'll use. I'm in Adelaide suburbs and have ADSL2 if that helps. Thanks, Tony.

I have to wonder, with your concern about speed and reliability, why you're looking for mobile broadband! Mobile broadband works off mobile phone towers, rather than a fixed copper line in the ground, and as a result – just like reception on your mobile phone – your connection will sometimes be good, and sometimes be very bad indeed. You're never going to get blazing fast connection speeds and the quality of your connection will depend on a lot of random factors, like how many other people are online at the same time and even what the weather's like!
By pointing out that you're only going to be at your property for 12 months, I presume that you're looking for a connection to use at home, which means that the main advantage mobile broadband has – portability – isn't a huge draw for you here. A much better option is to sign up for an ADSL2+ fixed line connection. You might be trying to avoid a home phone, but signing up for a cheap bundle or Naked Broadband will be much better value in the long term, and offer less frustration around speeds and reliability than mobile broadband. Maybe you already have a home phone, in which case you could get an ADSL2+ only connection for as little as an extra $20 or $30 a month.

It isn't always a cheaper option than finding a good bundle, but MyNetFone are a great provider willing to give you free set-up and a free modem on certain 12 month contracts.
