Please help.

I am currently with Telstra and I am on a Home12GB Ultimate bundle cost $118.00per mth. Plus mobile plan of $40 and $30. We use the home phone mainly for local calls. I would like to increase the internet to 20GB, only one phone is on a contract with Telstra. I feel that we could get a better deal but don't know where.

I have tried to check the number you provided, however unfortunately it has come up as invalid. This could be for a number of reasons, including: • The number has only recently been activated. You can contact Telstra on 1800 331 286 to request to have your number updated in their database. • The number is for a VoIP or wireless phone service i.e it doesn’t use Telstra’s copper wires. • The number has recently become inactive i.e you have recently cancelled the plan and are no longer paying phone line rental. • The number is incorrect However, looking at the number you have provided, it sounds like you are in a regional area of Victoria. This means that you will most likely have access to ADSL1 broadband. If you are too far from the exchange, you could always opt for mobile broadband from companies such as Virgin (1300 106 571) or Optus (1300 137 897). However, ADSL1 broadband will be the better option if it is available as it is cheaper and will include more data in your monthly quota. It is always better to bundle your home phone and broadband together, as you will most likely be offered a better deal. However, it is not always cheaper to bundle a mobile phone with the other two services, as there is a large range of mobile plan providers to choose from (and therefore strong competition!) If you’re finding the 12GB isn’t seeing you through the month, Optus have a 50GB ‘yes’ Fusion plan. That’s 50GB to use anytime (no peak or off peak hours), and unlimited local, national, and mobile calls within Australia. The plan costs $99 per month, which includes the phone line rental. That’s at least a $20 saving per month, plus unlimited calls and more data! There are no excess usage fees – speed is just slowed t o 256kbps for the remainder of the month. The Fusion plans are on a 24-month contract, however with the 50GB plan Optus will provide you with a new Wi-Fi modem (and if you order online, you will receive free delivery and free setup with your plan, which saves almost $100! If you’d like to switch to Optus, or if you’d like to find out more about their Fusion plans, you can contact Optus on 1300 137 897. You’ll also be able to ask Optus about their range of mobile phone plans. Dodo also has some cheap ADSL1 plans available. If you bundle a Dodo home phone, it will cost $29.90 per month, however be aware that local calls are charged at 25 cents each. There is a broadband plan which is $39.90 per month, which would give you 30GB during peak hours (1pm-1am), and 70GB during off peak hours (1am-1pm). The plan is available either on a no fixed term contract, a 12-month contract or a 24-month contract. If you sign up for 24 months, Dodo will also include a wireless modem and free setup. To find out more or to sign up to a bundle with Dodo, you can contact them on 1300 136 793. You could also ask them about their range of mobile phone plans, which use the Optus network to provide coverage. I would also recommend giving Virgin a call, as they have a range of cheap mobile phone plans available. They are particularly good if you plan on using the internet on your phone as plans include a large amount of data, and they have a range of smartphones to choose from. You can contact Virgin on 1300 106 571.
