I have just built a new home and need home phone, internet and a new mobile phone.

I will need the phone line installed also. I have three teenage children who all use the internet. I would like a large download capacity, capped or unlimited phone calls and a new mobile phone (maybe iPhone) with capped calls. Could you please help me.

As you have just built your new home (congratulations!) you will need to contact Telstra to get a phone line installed. However, you don't need to get your home phone service and broadband through Telstra. Instead, you could look into cheap broadband and home phone bundles that are available from several different providers. While some of these providers will also offer to bundle in a mobile phone, it might be worth doing this separately in order to get the best deal. Optus has recently slashed the price of its Fusion plan from $129 to $99 and I think this would suit your needs well. Optus offers 50GB of data with unlimited local, national and mobile phone calls included. A free Wi-Fi modem is also included in this plan. The downside is you would have to sign a 24-month contract. Give Optus a call on 1300 137 897 to find out if you are eligible for this deal. You should also phone a few more providers to find out what they can do for you. With three teenagers, 50GB a month may not be enough and you may want to investigate plans with a higher download limit. I would also suggest switching to VoIP to save money on your calls. You would get a VoIP phone number that people can call you on and you could use your current phone handset. All you would need in addition would be a VoIP enabled modem, which you could buy from your internet service provider. VoIP calls are significantly cheaper than landline calls and if you use the phone a lot, you can expect huge savings on your bill. The iiNet ADSL2+ Home 2 + 200GB plan costs $49.95 a month when bundled with a $29.95 phone service. Add a NetPhone 2 VoIP plan for $9.95 and you get the whole package of broadband, phone service and VoIP for $89.95. All local and national calls on this plan are free. You will need a VoIP enabled modem for this plan. iiNet offers an innovative gadget called BoB, which you can rent or buy from the provider. BoB is a Wi-Fi modem and wireless VoIP phone in one, which is very handy. Give us a call on 1300 764 00 if you want to sign up to this plan. Finally, you may have seen some adverts for TPG recently. TPG is a broadband and home phone service that is really leading the market for super-cheap bundle deals at the moment. Phone calls are not included in the plan and cost extra, but TPG offers free VoIP minutes to landlines in Australian state capitals so is certainly worth giving a call. TPG offers 100GB plus a home phone service for $49.99, or unlimited data for just $59.99, including line rental. TPG also offers mobile phone contracts, on a pre-paid or month-to-month basis. Broadband customers get extra data on these plans. You would have to buy your own phone, however. Again, call us on 1300 106 571 to sign up to this plan. You may find none of these plans are available at your new home; you will need to call the numbers provided to find out. Even if your address is not eligible for these plans, the providers I have listed here have other plans on ADSL1 or even mobile broadband which may be available to you.
