Wish to transfer my account from TPG to iiNet.
I already have an adsl2 modem and only require a simple plan. Do I still have to pay the set up costs and would prefer not to include the home phone.

Is the telephone number you supplied the one you wish to connect to the internet? Because from a quick number check, it looks like you would only be able to sign up to an ADSL1 plan, not an ADSL2+ connection.
If this is the case, you will need an active phone line in order to set up an ADSL1 connection. You can get the phone line and broadband through separate companies if you want but a bundle may save you more money.
If you are transferring from ADSL1 to ADSL1, you may be eligible for a rapid transfer, which would mean switching between providers will be quicker and set-up fees are often lower. However, not all customers are eligible for this.
You can give iiNet a call on 1300 106 571 to find out if you would be eligible for a fast transfer, otherwise you will have to pay the normal set-up fee. On a 24-month contract, iiNet charges $79.95 and $150 on a no fixed-term contract.
Your modem will need to be reconfigured if you are switching broadband providers, but your new Internet Service Provider (ISP) will tell you how to do this.
It's easy to transfer to iiNet, just choose a plan and follow the sign-up instructions, or you can give iiNet a call on the number above.
iiNet has some great standalone and bundle deals on ADSL1, with speeds ranging up to 8,000kbps. The actual speed you receive will vary depending on several factors, including how far you live from the exchange.
If you are after a 1,500kbps plan, you can get 50GB (25GB on peak and 25GB off peak) for $59.95 a month.
You could also have a look at Westnet plans, which are very similar to iiNet, if you wanted a comparison. Westnet has won awards for customer service, so is a good choice if this is important to you. Give Westnet a call on 1300 768 134.
