Does the person on the other end need a VoIP connection working when I use one on my end?

14/07/2010

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a way of making calls over an internet connection. To make calls over VoIP, you need a broadband connection and a VoIP-enabled modem, or VoIP software installed on your computer. The person you are calling does not need to have a VoIP phone - you can call regular landlines or mobiles. As the cost of VoIP is much lower, you can make long distance and local calls at a fraction of the price of a landline telephone. Many broadband providers offer a VoIP plan along with the broadband plans, or you can sign up to a standalone VoIP plan. Skype is probably the best known VoIP provider, with free software that you can easily install to make voice and video calls all over the world. But there are plenty of competitors and if you make a lot of calls, you may want to look into some other providers who could save you money. iiNet customers can add a VoIP plan to their broadband or broadband and home phone bundle for just $9.95. When bundled together with both the broadband and home service, $9.95 gets you all unlimited local and national calls and international calls cost from just 5c a minute. Call iiNet on 1300 106 571. Engin is another VoIP and broadband provider with great value deals. If you want to add an Engin VoIP plan to your existing broadband package, plans start from $9.95. On this plan, local and national calls cost just 10c untimed, while international calls are an amazing 1.9c a minute. Call Engin on 1300 121 064.
