I live in the 2232 postcode area and want fast internet as currently it is painfully slow.
Currently in our household we have a 3G and a Vodafone portable internet connection. They are both out of contract and we want something combined that 2 different computers can use. We need about 5-10GB and only want month to month or a max of 12 months. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

It sounds like your current set-up is based on a mobile broadband connection. Mobile broadband speeds are slower than fixed-line connections, such as cable, ADSL or ADSL2+, and sharing the signal between two computers will make it even slower.
You don't mention whether you have an active home phone line, or if you want one. However, broadband over your phone line is good value for money as well as being much faster than mobile broadband.
Without an active phone number, it's difficult to tell if you should be looking at ADSL or ADSL2+ plans. Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) offer both, so you could start looking at ADSL2+ plans (ADSL2+ is a faster and cheaper version of ADSL) then move on to ADSL if this is not available in your area.
Compare Broadband features plenty of light plans with shorter contracts on its website. If you don't already have an active landline, I would suggest signing up for a bundle, as you will get both services activated at the same time.
TPG has a 10GB (5B on peak, 5GB off peak) bundle plan for $9.99, plus $30 phone line rental that might suit you. This deal is only available in certain areas, so give us a call on 1300 106 571 to find out if you can sign up. TPG offers six-month contracts.
Spin has a similar deal and is offering 5GB, to be used anytime, for $19.95 a month when bundled with a home phone service for $29.95. Spin offers 12 month contracts and you can call on 1300 381 277 for more details.
If you would prefer to activate your phone with Telstra first, or you are already paying for an active landline, you should take a look at Club Telco. For $30 a month, you can use 10GB anytime. Club Telco offers a month-to-month contract and has no set-up fees, which makes this a great no-commitment deal.
Give Club Telco a call on 1300 138 155 to find out if this plan is available at your location.
If ADSL2+ is not available from these ISPs, ask about ADSL plans instead. Once you have your plan, you will need a Wi-Fi modem. You can buy one from the provider or you can buy one yourself but you must ensure it is the right type of modem (ie, if you have an ADSL2+ plan the modem must say 'ADSL2+' on the box).
