I'm trying to find a stand-alone broadband internet deal, but most of the providers require a Telstra phone to be in the house.
I just want the internet ADSL (not wireless, satellite etc). Do you know of any plans that do this?

It sounds like you’re after Naked broadband. Naked broadband allows you to get ADSL internet without activating your home phone line, and therefore you won’t need to pay phone line rental each month. Although you don’t need a Telstra home phone, you still need Telstra’s copper wires running into your home.
Naked DSL uses an ADSL2+ internet connection, which runs at a speed of up to 24,000Kbps, so it’s much faster than mobile wireless broadband or satellite. There are a range of plans to choose from with lots of data included, and there are even some home phone and broadband bundles which work out just as cheap as Naked DSL (and you never have to use the home phone line if you don’t need it).
If you’re looking for the cheapest plan available and you don’t need a lot of data, TPG may have a plan which suits your usage:
TPG ADSL2+ 5GB (peak) + 5GB (off peak) $39.99
The above plan includes the home phone line rental (but unfortunately the home phone and broadband can’t be unbundled). Peak hours run from 9am-1am, and off peak hours are from 1am-9am. There are also two contract lengths to choose from:
Six-month contract: $129.95 setup fee
18-month contract: $79.95 setup fee
While there isn’t a modem included, you can purchase a modem outright from TPG. They have three modem types to choose from:
1-port modem: $69.95
4-port modem: $79.95
4-port wireless modem: $149.95
(The prices above include the $10 delivery charge).
If you decide to use the home phone line to make calls, the following call rates will apply:
Local calls: 25c each
National (STD) calls: $2 for up to 20 minutes (then .25c per min plus a 39c call connection)
Mobile calls: $2.48 for up to 20 minutes (then .39c per min plus a 39c call connection)
Call us on 1300 106 571 to sign-up or find out more about TPG’s home phone and broadband bundles.
If you’re looking for a plan with lower set-up fees, then you could also look at iPrimus’ Naked DSL plan:
NakedDSL Starter Plus 20GB (peak) + 20GB (off peak) $49.95
Peak hours run from noon-midnight, and off peak runs from midnight-noon. There are also two contract lengths to choose from:
12-month contract: $59 set-up fee
24-month contract: $0 set-up fee
If you need a modem, there are two devices to choose from:
1-port ADSL modem/router (non wireless): $49 (on a 12-month contract), $29 (on a 24-month contract).
'Home Hub' Wireless & 2-port ADSL modem/router (VoIP enabled): $189 (on a 12-month contract), $129 (on a 24-month contract).
Call iPrimus on 1300 137 794 to sign-up or find out more about iPrimus’ Naked DSL plans.
If the plans mentioned above don’t include enough data for you, you could also look at TPG’s other bundle plans, or have a look at Internode’s Naked DSL plans which include loads of data.
