Hi, I just got my phone line put on today with Telstra, if I take the bundle with $30 phone line and $9.
99 internet does this cancel out the $30 odd that I have to pay to Telstra for the line rental? And do you take care of this and contact them? Also I notice the contract is only for 6 months, do the rates go up after this?

If you are looking at the TPG $9.99 ADSL2+ bundle plan with $30 home phone line, then yes, you would be paying the $30 to TPG and not Telstra, as TPG would take over the line rental.
TPG's plan includes 10GB, split 5GB in the peak and 5GB in the off peak. There is a set-up fee of $129.95 for the six-month contract.
After the six months is up, you will be out of contract and can leave without penalty. However, if you decide to stay with TPG, you don't do anything and your service will continue exactly as before with no additional cost.
As your phone is already active, TPG won't need to visit your home, and you can transfer over your existing telephone number, or TPG can give you a new one. TPG will take care of the process, and the transfer will take approximately ten working days.
However, you should be aware that Telstra usually charges a fee to customers who leave within three months of setting up a phone service. Give Telstra a call to find out how much this will be.
You could have avoided this fee by setting up your home phone service through TPG.
