I have a home phone line and a mobile phone plus wireless internet.
I feel my internet is not running at high speed and when someone sends me a video clip it stops and starts. I have heard that Telstra has some great deals at the moment but hesitate to change as I don't want to pay more than I already do. I am not a big internet user but would like to view short video clips without the break up. What's out there for someone like me?

When you watch a video clip, your broadband connection is downloading lots of data and the slower the connection, the longer this takes. A reliable connection is also important as a signal dropout halfway through will stop your video from downloading onto your computer.
These are typical problems for mobile broadband users, especially in areas where the signal from the mobile phone towers is less than perfect. You could try switching to Telstra for your mobile broadband, as Telstra can often provide a faster service, but you may pay more for this service and you could experience similar problems anyway.
Consider switching to an ADSL connection instead, as ADSL is generally faster and gives a more reliable service compared to mobile broadband. ADSL broadband is through the copper phone wires, not over the mobile phone towers. You will need a home phone service (which you already have) and a modem (which some providers will offer you for free or you can buy one yourself).
The phone number you provided suggests you live in Lightning Ridge, which is considered a regional area and ADSL1 should be available from most providers.
Give iiNet a call on 1300 106 571 and ask about the 10GB 1,500kbps plan for $34.95 when bundled with a $29.95 home phone service. This is a reasonably fast speed and 10GB (split 5GB in the peak, 5GB in the off peak) should be enough for a light internet user.
iiNet is also offering a free BoB Lite modem to new bundled customers at the moment.
iPrimus is another good provider, which is often available in regional areas. iPrimus has a popular Platinum bundle plan, which includes 25GB to use anytime and all your local and national calls. There is no set-up fee on this plan and iPrimus will also include a free modem. This plan costs $89.95 a month, including line rental.
Give iPrimus a call on 1300 137 794 for more information on this plan.
Dodo also has some cheap ADSL1 deals, starting from $19.90, which may be available in your area. Give Dodo a call on 1300 136 793 to find out.
