Hi!
I'm moving into an apartment at the end of July and I just wonder how long it would take them to come and set it up? I've been looking at TPG's 200 GB for $49.90. We are starting Uni a couple days after we move in and we need internet pretty soon. Do I need to order this now to get it in time? We are going to be three students living in the apartment. Do you think a plan of 200GB per month will be enough? The lease of the apartment is 6 months, when we move can we take the internet with us and continue our plan, let's say we have one for 12 months? And last, I'm living in St. Lucia QLD and do you think we will get a good speed with TPG or is there other providers closer? Thank you so much.

If you want ADSL2+ broadband, which is a fast broadband connection with plenty of data available, you will need to set up a home phone service. Even if you sign up for a Naked broadband plan, the first step is to install a phone service, which will be later taken off again.
Setting up a home phone service and an internet connection together as a bundle could help speed up the process slighltly, but generally it takes ten to 20 working days.
Provided the apartment is yours and there is no one currently living there, you can sign up to a plan before you move in. However, it is very important you have keys to the property as a technician will need to visit during this time and you must be there to let them in.
As for the plan, it would be better if you gave us a call on 1300 106 571 to find out what is available in your area. If TPG bundles are available, I would suggest TPG's unlimited plan, which costs $29.99 a month when bundled with a $30 home phone line.
If your lease is for six months, go for a six-month contract. If you move to another property where TPG is available, you will be charged a relocation fee which is lower than a set-up fee. However, if you move to an area where TPG plans are not available, you would be liable for a contract break fee if still under contract.
Your speed will be dictated by how far you live from the telephone exchange. All broadband providers in your area will use the same exchange, so the speeds will all be very similar.
Before signing up, it's worth calling a few other providers to make sure you are getting the best deal. iiNet has some great bundle deals with plenty of data available and offer great customer service. Call iiNet on 1300 106 571.
iPrimus also offers an unlimited plan on a month-to-month contract, on Naked broadband, for $69 a month. If you want to find out more about this plan, call iPrimus on 1300 137 794.
