Hi there, I am currently on a plan with Internode.
The current plan is the HOME Naked Ultra 25 and costs $74.95 per month. Our monthly quota is 25GB, and speeds are ADSL2+. Our service rollover date is 28/09/2011. We would like to find a cheaper plan. We live in Frenchs Forest. Can you suggest a better (i.e. cheaper) plan? Thanks, Kylie

Hi Kylie,
We checked and your home’s infrastructure is connected to the Frenchs Forest telephone exchange. This exchange has been enabled for ADSL2+ and Naked DSL by a large number of Australian Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Internode is a great broadband provider that generally has the highest level of customer satisfaction of any ISP in Australia. However, because of this, Internode can cost more on some of its plans when compared with other budget broadband providers.
We recommend going on either a Naked DSL or ADSL2+ bundle with a different provider. We know you don’t need a landline telephone, but sometimes having an ADSL2+ bundle is actually cheaper than a Naked DSL service. Here are some good plan options you could consider changing over to:
TPG ADSL2+ $19.99 100GB Home Phone bundle plus $30 landline phone rental 6-month plan. For $49.99 a month you’ll get ADSL2+ speeds with 50GB in peak time and 50GB in off-peak. If you don’t use the telephone/don’t even plug one in, the only difference between this plan and Naked DSL is you’ll need to pay a one-off $20 phone call deposit at the start of the contract. If you never make a phone call the deposit will just sit there and you’ll get it back when you finish the plan. Call Compare Broadband on 1300 106 571 for more details about this TPG plan.
Next you could look at the iPrimus $49.99 Naked DSL 40GB Starter Plus 12-month broadband plan. You get 20GB in peak time and 20GB in off-peak, but iPrimus’s off-peak period encompasses the entire morning period from 12 midnight to 12 noon. iPrimus also has 100% onshore Australian customer support like Internode. Call iPrimus on 1300 137 794 for more information about this Naked DSL plan.
You could also consider going for the Exetel OT-20 ADSL2+ $19.50 40GB plus $20 phone line rental 12-month bundle plan. This plan also comes with a phone line, but if you never make any phone calls you’ll be getting 20GB in peak time and 20GB in off-peak for a total of $39.50 a month. Call Compare Broadband on 1300 106 571 for more details about this Exetel plan.
