Internet for only $10 a month is a giddy prospect! Unfortunately, it’s also not a very attainable one. You say you only use the internet for two hours a day, but depending upon what you do during these two hours, you could be using quite a bit of data. Nevertheless, if you wanted to try starting on one or two GB per month to see if that was adequate for your needs, you could try out Mobile Wireless Broadband.
Mobile Broadband works as a little USB (called a dongle) that you can plug into your computer and use whenever you like. It’s not as stable or as fast as ADSL, but you can get some Mobile Broadband plans for as little as $6.90/month. Try calling Dodo for more information on 1300 1367 793, or go through the form on the website.
You could also try Optus, on 1300 137 897, or Virgin, on 1300 106 571. Both providers have good Mobile Broadband deals.
If you felt like one GB a month wouldn’t be enough, or you don’t like the potential instability of a Mobile Broadband connection, another option would be to purchase an Exetel bundle. Exetel offers a bundle deal with its home phone where you pay $4.50 for 10GB/month, or $9.50 for 20GB/month. However, you must add $20 for line rental to that cost, making your monthly bill either $24.50 or $29.50. In this way, you can save on your internet by paying for it included with the cost of line rental. This does not cover the cost of calls, but it may be one of the cheapest plans for ADSL internet. The other provider to consider is TPG. TPG offers a plan for 20GB for $9.99/month. However once again, you must add $30 for line rental to that cost, making your monthly bill $39.99.
