Currently with AAPT Home Chat Starter + AAPT LiveNet 5 Bundle $79.95 per month. I have a WiFi modem from AAPT I need more GBs download (currently 5GB then speed reduces each month) and I make overseas phone calls each month to UK France NZ USA within my included allowance. What can you propose? I don't want to spend anymore.

Hi Michael,

This is an interesting little question you've got! A lot of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will focus on giving you plans that give you either heavy or light data usage, but it can be harder to find someone who will support reasonably light data usage with international phone calls. Luckily, there are some good ones out there – here's a couple to get you started.

Exetel have a great bundle at the moment for light users. For $39.50 a month, you can get the  10GB Exetel Broadband Bundle Plan. The 20GB is split into 10GB peak and 10GB off-peak, which will be enough for some Skype calls, YouTube videos, emails, and even a downloaded movie or two, but the real attraction of the deal is with the 9000 free call minutes Exetel will give you. These 9000 minutes cover national calls, local calls, and calls to Optus mobiles, meaning that the overseas phone calls you make might be the only ones you need to pay for. If you're worried the data won't be enough, for an extra $10 you can get 40GB of data (20GB peak and 20GB off-peak). For more information about Exetel and call rates, or to sign up, you can give us a call on 1300 106 571.

If you are more interested in getting those international calls for free and don't mind signing up for a long contract, TPG might be the way to go. You would have to sign up for the TPG Unlimited Home Phone Bundle Plan, which for $59.99/month will give you unlimited data usage online. Then, for an extra $10 (bringing you up to $69.99/month), you can add on their Super Chat option. This will give you unlimited free national calls, unlimited free local calls, and 100 minutes worth of talking to international phone numbers per month. You will also get a free WiFi modem router. However, this is only available on a 24 month contract, so be sure that you're not going to want to break the contract earlier than that before you sign up. To sign up or to discuss TPG's deals further, call us on 1300 106 571.

While these two plans are particularly engineered towards people who want more weight on the home phone side of their home phone/internet bundle, there are other ISPs who will also be able to offer you deals including international calls. Try calling some of the following to ask about their prices:

Optus: 1300 203 761
SpinTel: 1300 136 807
Club Telco: 1300 209 143

If you have any further questions, call Compare Broadband on 1300 106 571 and we'll be happy to help you out!

Mikaella.

Hi Sam. It depends upon what you mean by "reconnect" -- has there been a phone connection at your house in the past? If so, then you will be able to get a bundle plan just like you suggest, where they'll give you ADSL2+ and activate your landline. If, however, there has never been a phone connection at your house, then you'll need to get Telstra to connect it out onto the street - a process that takes a while, will not guarantee you an ADSL2+ connection, and generally costs around $300. If you're having trouble working out what your situation is, give us a call on 1300 764 000 and we'll be able to help you out. Mikaella.
