FAQs

What is the best Internet service in the ACT?

“Best” depends on what you need it to be “best” for. Is it price, speed, reliability, or additional features? There’s no single answer for everyone, especially as ISPs constantly compete with special deals to entice you. However, for most users of the NBN, the NBN 50 tier represents a great balance point between price, speed and features for all but the busiest of households.

What is the cheapest Internet package in the ACT?

There’s so much competition in the Internet space that “cheapest” is something of a moving feast. If you’re seriously fussed about saving the most you can on your broadband services, it’s a very smart move to check plans and deals at least a couple of times a year to snag the best prices. The cheapest NBN plans in the ACT are typically either at the NBN12 or NBN25 tiers, and these are often identical in price – at which point we’d suggest the faster NBN25 plans are much better value.

How to switch Internet providers in the ACT

If you’re contemplating a provider switch in the ACT, you don’t need to stress too much about making that happen. Give us a call at Compare Broadband on 1800 061 200 at any time and we can guide you through what you need to know. Put simply, what you’ll need to do is check your contract with your current NBN ISP. Most NBN contracts are simple month-to-month (sometimes called “zero contract” or “rolling contract” plans) deals, which makes switching fairly simple in most cases. If you are signed for a longer term, there may be an exit fee to pay to break your contract, sometimes tied to the modem or modem-router your ISP supplied you with when you first signed up. That shouldn’t stop you from switching, but it’s worth checking the details to avoid any cost surprises.

Are you eligible for a FREE fibre upgrade?

The government is making 1.5 million Australian homes and businesses eligible for a speed upgrade to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), which offers greater speed and reliability. Selected towns and suburbs with FTTC and FTTN are eligible for the upgrade with an eligible high speed nbn plan.
