To keep you entertained and hooked with Netflix's offerings, the streaming service continuously releases new television series to add to your favourite lists. Here are some of the top Netflix original series to binge watch this October 2020.

The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen's Gambit brings you back to the Cold War era where geniuses and madmen dominated society. Imagine how things suddenly change when a young orphan girl, Beth Hamond, emerges from her dark past and becomes one of the greatest chess players in the world. Enjoy the madness and be captivated with the haunting screenplay of the tv series shot in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

The mini television series directed by Scott Frank will also feature the musical works of composer Carlos Rafael Rivera and is scheduled to premiere this coming October 23,2020. The film is based on the 1983 novel "The Queen's Gambit" written by Walter Tevis. The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy who plays the lead character Beth Harmon together with Harry Melling, Moses Ingram, Matthew Dennis Lewis, Marielle Heller, Bill Camp and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

Emily in Paris

Coming this October is another feel good series from Netflix. Emily in Paris features Emily, played by Lily Collins landing her dream job in Paris. After being a marketing executive in Chicago for quite some time, She finally lands on her dream job, in Paris and starts a whole new life.

The series will feature 10 episodes and will definitely be a binge-worthy series to conclude your weekend with. See Emily as he faces new intoxicating adventures, new challenges, a possible romance, friendship and a new job, all in a new city, the city of love! The fashion frenzy is worth tuning in for. The comedy drama created by Darren Star is set to premiere this coming October 2, 2020 starring Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Camille Razat, and Lucas Bravo.

Good Morning Veronica

If you love seeing strong women on the television screen, Good Morning Veronica is one of the best options for you. Although in Portuguese, this Netflix original features the captivating story of Veronica Torres, a police clerk who witnessed a suicide that pushed her to investigate two cases on her own. The Brazilian crime drama series is a breath of fresh air from the usual Hollywood crime drama series that we are used to watching.

The first episode debuts on October 1, 2020 led by Taina Muller, Eduardo Moscovis, Camila Morgado, Elisa Volpatto and Cessar Mello. The series is based on the novel Good Morning, Veronica by Raphael Monte and Ilana Casoy.

To The Lake

Another intriguing series to watch out for this coming October 2020 via Netflix is the series To The Lake. Another book adaptation of the Netflix original, the series was based on the book written by Yana Vagner. Another post-apocalyptic inspired storyline, the thriller series from Russia revolves around a terrifying virus that has already overthrew Moscow. The story will revolve around a man who must keep his wife, ex-wife and sons from each wife, safe from the virus.

Season 1 of the series is scheduled to premiere on October 7 and offers a suspenseful, scary and chilling story in a brutal struggle to survive. The series stars Viktoriya Isakova, Kirill Karo and Aleksandr Robak.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Prepare for a weekend of suspense and horror this coming October 9 with the release of the first season of The Haunting of Bly Manor. This Netflix originals series is based on the 1898 novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. The series will follow the life of a young governess Dani Clayton played by Victoria Pedretti as she takes on the job of taking care of two children in their family country home. Not long into the job, she starts to discover strange hauntings in the property. It is the follow-up series to the earlier Netflix original The Haunting of Hill House.

The program is created by Mike Flagan. The supernatural horror web television series stars Victoria Pedretti, Amelie Smith, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Amelie Smith, Tahirah Sharif and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

La Revolution

Another interesting miniseries to look forward to this October 2020 is the French series La Revolution. Set in a reimagined town during the 18th century, the series revolves around a mysterious disease eating away the poor and the aristocracy in 18th century old France. Epic battles, cinematic effects, mystery, romance and conflict will keep you hooked and entangled with the brutal class between these two faces in society. The 8-episode Netflix original series is set two years before the French Revolution.

The period series is based on the real-life biography of Joseph-Ignace Guillotin, an 18th century French physician who advocated to reform capital punishment and believed that death sentences should be carried out through beheading, in a time where the "humane" penalty was only carried out for the aristocracy. La Revolucion stars Coline Beal, Marilou Assilloux, Lionel Erdogan, Amir El Kacem, Gaia Weiss, Julien Frison, and Doudou Masta.

Grand Army

Scheduled to premiere this coming October 16, Grand Army is a Netflix series that revolves around youth drama, LGBTQ and emotional struggles of the younger generation. The series is based on the controversial American play Slut:  The Play written by Katie Cappiello in 2013. The play focused on the damaging impacts of slut culture and slut shaming to the younger generation.

The series will feature the lives of five students from the largest public high school in Brooklyn as they take on the world, trying to succeed while trying to fit in a judgemental and harsh society. They fight to survive, break free and seize their future, despite the struggles life throws at them. The series casts Maliq Johnson, Amalia Yoo, Crystal Nelson, Alphonso Jone, Brittany Adebumola, Odley Jean and Odessa A'Zion. 

There are several other interesting television series scheduled for an October release via Netflix. Among the other interesting Netflix original television series to look forward to bingeing this October include Unsolved Mysteries Season 2 to be released on October 19. If you enjoy watching anime series, Blood of Zeus is scheduled to release on October 27, 2020. It will feature the voice of Jason O'Mara, Jessica Henwick and Elias Toufexis. October is indeed a month of exciting new television releases from Netflix Originals.
