iiNet offers online TV service fetchtv1 to all customers
iiNet has made its online TV service available to all customers at the reduced price of $14.95 a month.
The Internet Service Provider (ISP) said the new service, fetchtv1, would give customers access to newly released movies, all local digital free-to-air channels, and include rental of the set top box with one terabyte of storage, on a 24-month contract.
The set top box not only allows customers to access the fetchtv service, it will also record, pause, and rewind live TV. Previously, only ADSL2+ customers could access iiNet's entertainment package, fetchtv2.
iiNet’s chief technology officer, Greg Bader, said: "iiNet fetchtv 1 means all our customers can now access movies on demand and quota-free. Coupled with Fetchtv's state-of-the-art set top box, we think this makes compelling value for only $14.95 a month.
"With three digital tuners and one terabyte of storage, not only is it possible to record two free-to-air TV channels while watching a third, there’s enough memory to store hours of your favourite shows."
Customers with a fast broadband connection that are after additional channels including MTV and BBC World News can subscribe to fetchtv2, which costs $29.95 a month, or $19.95 a month when the set top box is bought outright. Fetchtv2 customers also have access to 30 on-demand movies a month.
Both services require iiNet customers to buy or rent a set top box and a BoB device, which is both a wireless modem and VoIP handset.
To celebrate the launch of fetchtv1 iiNet has waived the $99 set-up fee for all new subscriptions to both services when you rent the set top box. Alternatively you can buy the box outright for $399 and pay $19.95 a month for the fetchtv2. BoB costs $9.95 a month to rent, or $369 outright.
