• Broadband plans suitable for Xbox gamers
  • ADSL2+ or cable best connections for Xbox
  • Select a broadband plan with plenty of data

There is a range of plans to choose from to go with your new Xbox. You’ll want to make sure the plan you sign up to includes enough data for online gaming and watching TV over your broadband connection (Xbox offers its customers to access TV and Foxtel), and a fast, steady service. You’ll also need a modem with a port to directly plug in your console, plus Wi-fi if you also have a desktop or laptop in your home.

It’s worth checking first with providers to see if ADSL2+ is available to your home. This will provide speeds of up to 20,000Kbps. If only ADSL1 is available (usually in rural or regional areas) try to go for a plan which offers speeds of up to at least 8,000Kbps. For those who want lightning fast speeds for online gaming and are prepared to pay a bit more for it, you could try Optus (1300 137 897) or Bigpond cable plans for speeds of up to 30,000Kbps. Usually cable is only available in metro areas.

For ADSL2+ plans to go with your Xbox, we recommend the following plans:

TPG home phone and broadband:

TPG ADSL2+ $49.99 50GB (peak) + 50GB (off peak) – price includes phone line rental
TPG ADSL2+ $59.99 Unlimited broadband – price includes phone line rental

The setup fee on the TPG six-month contract is $99.95, and $79.95 on an 18-month contract. If you don’t yet have a modem to use with ADSL2+ broadband, TPG has a WiFi + 4-port modem for $109.95 (including delivery). For an extra $5 per month, you can also get unlimited calls to local landlines.
