Just recently, the company revealed some of the latest suburbs that are eligible for faster internet as the connection technology in these areas is upgraded.

NBN Connection Technologies 

• Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

Among all the NBN connection technologies, FTTP is considered to be the best one because of its consistency in delivering high-speed internet. This can be attributed to the fact that the fibre optic cable runs directly to your premises. For an FTTP setup though, you need to have a utility box outside your premises along with a connection box and a power supply installed inside your premises.

• Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

Another NBN connection technology that is capable of providing a fast internet connection is FTTN. Rather than the more modern fibre optic cables, the FTTN technology leverages existing copper cables. For this reason, expect that the FTTP connection technology is still better in providing a faster internet speed compared to FTTN.

FTTP Upgrade

For most areas, the FTTN connection technology is already available. However, the internet speed that you can garner through this technology is still limited because the cables used are still the old copper wires with limited bandwidth. Nevertheless, NBN Co announced recently that FTTP will already be made available to more areas as the old copper wires are replaced with more contemporary fibre optic cables.

Last May 2021, NBN Co announced that the following areas will already get to enjoy a faster internet speed as their connection technology will be upgraded to FTTP.
