Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date

So far, we don't have any information about the exact release date of Stranger Things season 4. However, it's more likely that we'll get to see the new season sometime in 2021. Netflix tends to release new content around holidays -- Stranger Things season 2 was released on Halloween, while its season 3 came out on the 4th of July. You could expect the streaming company to follow this trend in releasing Stranger Things season 4.

The season 4 filming began in February, but unforeseen circumstances caused delays to the whole operation. Fortunately, the crew already resumes filming back in October, according to the reports.

The post-production will begin anytime soon, and this means fans of Stranger Things might see the new season in early 2021 if everything goes as planned. Peculiarly, the new Stranger Things might arrive around spring. The season 3 took place in 1985, and some fans say that its events are leading to the Chernobyl disaster. If this theory is correct, Netflix might release the new season in April.

Fans shouldn't feel bad about the delays for the new season of Stranger Things. The production delays were beneficial for everyone. According to Ross Duffer, the delay gives them more time to plan how they can end the show on a high note. That statement hints that Stranger Things would possibly have a 5th season.

A Character is Still Alive in Season 4

There is only one Stranger Things 4 trailer available. But despite that, it contains a huge spoiler.

The trailer shows where Hopper ended up after the ending of the last season. The show creators, the Duffer Brothers, even gave an official statement about it.

"We're excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway – and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!"

"Although it’s not all good news for our 'American'; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human...and other. Meanwhile, back in the States, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long-buried, something that connects everything.

"Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime – pray for the American."

Possible Returning Casts

Netflix already renews Stranger Things. However, there are still no formal announcements for its casting.

With that said, it is possible that we will get to see the same people from season 3 -- Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max), and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington). And, of course, Hopper (David Harbour).

The new fan favourite, Maya Hawke (Robin), may still play a crucial role in the upcoming season.

Moreover, we may also see more of Caleb's younger sister Erica (played by Priah Ferguson). Various reports say that she will continue having a larger role in the story.

Though we will expect to see familiar faces, there are also characters that won't be returning in the upcoming season. If you're avoiding spoilers, you may skip reading the following.

Alec Utgoff (Alexei) and Dacre Montgomery (Billy) won't be returning in the new season. However, this is not for certain. The show runners can surprise us when we least expect it. Some fan theory even suggests that Billy may still show up in season 4. This theory came out after actor Dacre Montgomery tweets a pic of him as Billy.

Sure, the actor might be just reminiscing old times since Billy is dead in the last season. But Billy might return, maybe he is stuck in the Upside Down, and the dead Billy we saw is a clone.

Fans of Stranger Things may also see new characters. According to Matt Duffer's interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that there are possibilities of having certain plotlines that might happen in areas outside of Hawkins.

Stranger Things in 4K and HDR

The studio has been filming Stranger Things in 4K Ultra HD resolution since season 1. That means we could also expect the new one to use the same video format. You could enjoy the visuals as long as you are using 4K TV.
