Belong Internet Plans
Although Belong is a newcomer, they're already ruffling the feathers of Australia's biggest telcos with their cheap and cheerful NBN plans. Belong's NBN plans are perfect for Aussies fed up with sneaky price hikes, hidden fees and lame excuses about traffic shaping. Because Telstra Wholesale wholly owns Belong, you can be sure of better coverage in more places than any other ISP. What's the catch? Well, there isn't one.
Belong also gives you what you need, not what they think you want like other ISPs. There are no phone bundles, contracts or hidden costs to worry about, and Belong is one of the few providers to let you cancel your NBN plan without penalty.
Launched by Telstra in the heady halcyon days of 2013, Belong Broadband has since established itself as one of the better known low-cost internet service providers. In a short time, Belong's plans and service had garnered hundreds of thousands of customers, and they are still going strong today.
Belong NBN Plans
Belong has several NBN plans to suit your needs. Belong offers contracts on its Standard Plus and Premium speeds, so there's something for everyone. In addition, NBN™ Wi-Fi modem is included in the cost of your plan, so you won't need to buy your own at an additional fee!
Belong's NBN Plans are simple — $70 a month for a Standard Plus or $90 a month for Premium. After you've worked out what speed is best for you, choose your contract, month by month or a 12-month contract.
Belong NBN Speeds
Belong NBN Plan | Speed Tier | Typical Evening Speed |
---|---|---|
NBN Starter |
25Mbps |
|
NBN Standard Plus |
48Mbps |
|
NBN Premium |
95Mbps |
If you're not sure which NBN speed is right for your household, check how many people are using the Internet at home, how many devices they're using at once and what you use them for.
The Belong Standard Plus Speed range is ideal for households with typical broadband usage requirements which may not need additional data. If you're a casual Internet user or have light usage requirements, this speed is for you. Standard Plus may be suitable for you if your household has 4-5 members and they're all online at once during the evening after work hours.
The Premium range is ideal if you belong to households that require significant data. This plan starts with unlimited internet data, which is more than enough to meet the needs of most homes. However, if you belong to a household that uses lots of data during evening hours after work or school, Premium may be right for you.
Belong NBN Coverage
Belong's NBN coverage is largely contingent on what's going on nationally. According to the NBN Co, once the rollout is complete, fibre connections will cover 93 percent of Australians and only 7% of people won't have access to them due to their location or circumstance.
Telstra owns Belong, but the company's NBN future is in the hands of NBN Co. as of writing, NBN is accessible to most capital cities as well as major regional hubs.If you're not connected, it's only a matter of time until you are. You can call us at Compare Broadband to check NBN's availability in your area.

FAQs
What are the different types of Belong NBN plans?
Telstra actually runs Belong as its discount mobile and broadband brand, so you can expect the same reliable service at a price that's more affordable. It's not advisable to compare plans based only on cost, though.
Currently, Belong offers only NBN plans, though it used to offer ADSL plans as well. Typical plans are at NBN 50 and NBN 100, although Belong also has a slower type of NBN 50 plan that's been capped at 30Mbps - so it's just a little faster than the NBN 25 option. As of this writing, only customers with a hybrid coaxial fibre (HFC) or Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) connection can access their NBN 100 plans.
Their NBN Starter - Unlimited and NBN Standard Plus - Unlimited plans have two versions - one where you're locked in for a contract period of 12 months, and another where there's no contract. As to costs, NBN Starter plans and NBN Standard Plus will cost $55 and $65 per month, respectively, when locked into a contract. The contract-free versions for both plans increase by $5 per month - to $60 for NBN Starter and $70 for NBN Standard Plus.
Meanwhile, their NBN Premium - Unlimited plan is contract-free, and goes for $95 a month.
How fast are Belong NBN plans?
Belong’s NBN Starter - Unlimited and NBN Standard Plus - Unlimited plans are both at the NBN 50 speed tier; however, their typical evening speeds (from 7pm to 11pm) are different. NBN Starter plans will see evening speeds of 30Mbps, while NBN Standard Plus get speeds of 40Mbps. Meanwhile, their NBN Premium - Unlimited plan is at the NBN 100 tier and typically sees evening speeds of 80Mbps.
How to switch to Belong NBN?
If you’re not already a Belong customer, one of the first things you’ll need to do is to make sure you have the right equipment needed to switch to a Belong NBN plan - especially if you’re switching from an ADSL connection. After that, find and choose a Belong plan that suits your internet needs.
Then you’ll want to make sure you’re out of contract with your soon-to-be old internet service provider (ISP); otherwise, you may end up paying a disconnection fee, among other things. Check, too, that your old ISP won’t disconnect your service the same day you give notice that you’ll be moving off their service; if so, you’ll want to wait until your new service with Belong is up and running before you notify your old ISP.
As a side note, you’ll want to remember whether or not your home is in a newly developed area with no existing infrastructure for telecommunications, because you’ll have to pay a $300 New Development fee.
What are my data options?
If data is one of your bigger concerns, you’re in luck; all of Belong’s NBN plans come with unlimited data.
