New Optus ADSL2+ and cable bundle plans compete with the best

  • Optus cable speeds 20Mbps
  • Includes calls to mobiles
  • Also available for ADSL2+

Optus has just released three new broadband bundle plans that can be purchased on either ADSL2+ or cable internet connections. The new Optus plans include phone line rental, a lot of internet data, and $30 worth of included phone calls. Here are the options:

Optus up to 120GB ADSL2+ broadband bundle including phone line for $64.94 per month: You get 50GB in peak time and 70GB in off-peak time. Off-peak time is from 12:00am midnight to 12:00pm noon, so it encompasses the entire morning period. This plan includes a standard ADSL2+ modem on a 24-month contract, but you do have to pay a $19.95 delivery fee.

If you reach your peak quota the connection is slowed to dial-up speed for both periods, with no excess usage charges. If you exceed your off-peak quota then usage in that period will go towards your peak time limit. Both uploads and downloads are counted towards your data limit.

The $30 phone call allowance can be used for local, national (STD), Australian mobiles, and 13/1300 numbers. The set-up fee for this bundle plan is $0 if you sign up before September 30, 2011, but a $55 fee applies if you need a new telephone number.

Optus up to 120GB cable broadband bundle includes phone line for $64.94 per month: This plan is identical to the plan above, but is only available where Optus cable networks exist. Cable broadband runs on the same coaxial cable required by Foxtel and other pay TV providers.

Optus up to 150GB ADSL2+ broadband bundle including phone line for $74.94 per month: This is the mid-level plan for these new Optus bundle options. You get a hefty 75GB in peak time and 75GB in off-peak time. This is a lot of data when you consider Optus’s normal phone line rental costs $39.95. Essentially you are receiving 150GB for $35.00 a month.

Optus up to 150GB cable broadband bundle includes phone line for $74.94 per month: This plan is identical to the plan above, but with cable broadband internet speeds of up to 30Mbps. ADSL2+ runs at speeds of up to 24Mbps.

Optus up to 500GB ADSL2+ broadband bundle including phone line for $84.94 per month: With 250GB in peak time and 250GB in off-peak time, this is a true heavy-user plan. If you are really into online gaming, regularly watching streamed online TV shows, talking on Skype video chat for hours on end, or downloading large movie or music files, this is the plan for you.

Families or group houses with a number of computers, smartphones, laptops, or tablet computers will be assured of enough data with this large quota bundle plan.

Optus up to 500GB cable broadband bundle includes phone line for $84.94 per month: This plan is identical to the plan above, but with cable broadband internet speeds of up to 30Mbps.
