Hi, I am shopping around for a broadband package to suit my business AND personal needs.
I require at least 10GB per month, preferably more. We use 3 laptops throughout the home and I also require mobile broadband for my laptop when I am out on the road. I currently get useless coverage from Vodafone here (turns out we are in a blackspot!) and it is my understanding that Optus are also not in my area. I no longer have a landline and so this seems to pose a problem also and limits my options. Can you point me in the right direction of a good ISP that can meet my requirements please? Check your coverage with Optus by calling on 1300 768 194. If Optus and Vodafone are out, you should take a look at Telstra Bigpond plans for your mobile broadband. While Telstra is not the cheapest of providers for mobile broadband, it does have a solid reputation for serving customers in regional areas.
Bigpond has a 1GB plan for $39.95 a month, on a 12 month contract. You will also need a modem, which you can buy from Bigpond or bring your own.
I wouldn't recommend a mobile broadband plan for your home, especially as you have three laptops. An ADSL2+ or ADSL plan will be better for both price and speed.
Although you will need a landline, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) can set this up for you, provided you still have the phone jacks in the wall.
You will need to call a few providers to see if they can give you a service, based on your address. If you don't have a home phone service, a bundle or a Naked DSL service (broadband without paying line rental) would be the best option.
TPG offers ADSL2+ services across Australia. Plans start from a bargain $9.99 a month for 20GB (split 10GB in the peak and 10GB in the off peak) when bundled with a $30 home phone line. Give us a call on 1300 106 571 and we can find out if TPG offers ADSL2+ plans in your area.
Try iiNet on 1300 106 571. iiNet plans start from $29.95 for 10GB split 5GB in the peak and 5GB in the off peak, plus a $29.95 home phone service. If you need more data, larger plans are available.
If you prefer to use VoIP for your calls, all iiNet Naked DSL plans come with free local and national VoIP calls. Plans start from 1300 768 081 a month.
If you like the idea of Naked DSL, you should also give MyNetFone a call on 1300 768 081. MyNetFone offers very competitive Naked DSL and VoIP services, with a range of plans from 1GB to 1,000GB available.
