Donations Up to $1M in 2022 to be Made by TPG Telecom Foundation

The TPG Telecom Foundation, formerly known as the Vodafone Foundation Australia, recently invited applications for its 2022 donations round. This is expected to include up to $1 million in total funding.

The rebranding was made to better align the foundation with its new parent company following the TPG-VHA merger. This announcement was made by the charitable foundation recently. Nevertheless, it plans to maintain its close ties with the 26 Vodafone Foundations around the world.

According to the TPG Telecom Foundation director, Jacqueline Brewer, who is also part of TPG Telecom group executive people, since its establishment in 2002, the foundation has donated more than $26 million to various charitable causes and organisations across Australia.

“Since 2002, the Foundation has partnered with charities and donated an incredible amount of money to help support Australians in need and to improve the health of our communities,” she said. “While we have changed our name to TPG Telecom Foundation, our purpose to create opportunities to improve the health, wellbeing, and education of Australian communities in need, is stronger than ever.”

The purpose of the charitable projects that the 2022 funding round will be open to highlights the creation of opportunities to improve the health, well-being, and education of disadvantaged Australian communities.

One of the significant donations in the previous year included a $299,000 grant to the Garvan Institute for Medical Research. The funds were made available for a project aimed at building a new medical research database of genetic information that is more representative of Australia’s cultural diversity. Another significant donation was the $250,000 funding allocated to Infoxchange. This was meant to enhance collaboration with TPG Telecom staff to co-design digital technology-enabled community solutions for improving disaster preparedness and community resilience.

The great thing about the foundation is that it also provides an avenue for TPG Telecom staff to support charities they personally care about. They can do this with initiatives including donation matching and volunteering hours.

In supporting vibrant and connected communities, TPG Telecom considers it a privilege to play a significant role within the community. For this reason, the company has developed a compelling strategy that encompasses four key areas to ensure that they are acting as a responsible and sustainable business in the industry. In this way, they will be able to make a meaningful difference for their customers, the people, and the community as a whole not only at present but well into the future.
