iPad 2 available on Vodafone
- Can be paid off over a contract with Vodafone
- Plans from $30 a month
- Use your iPad anywhere you go
Finally, the iPad 2 is available on a plan with included data, in plenty of time for the Christmas season.
Vodafone is offering a range of data plans, from 1.5GB to 14GB a month, bundled with the 16GB or 64GB iPad 2 3G, in a choice of white or black.
While data plans are available for the iPad 2 from a number of providers, up until now customers have had to buy their device outright.
By bundling an iPad 2 with a data plan, customers can spread the cost of the tablet over 12 or 24 months, with no upfront payment when ordered online. This online offer also applies to customers who call Compare Broadband on 1300 650 410.
Vodafone is charging $30 a month on the 24-month contract and $62 a month on the 12 month contract for a 16GB iPad 2.
For example, on a 24-month plan Vodafone offers 6GB plus a 16GB iPad 2 for a total of $59 a month.
Vodafone offers a repair warranty for the life of the contract.
The iPad 2 features a 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit touchscreen display, the powerful dual-core A5 chip, plus front and back cameras for video calls. The 3G model connects to the internet over Wi-Fi or through the 3G network on a microSIM.
Tablets are ideal for viewing pictures, movies, reading books and magazines or browsing the internet.
iPad 2 is compatible with Vodafone's new 850MHz network, which the telco is rolling out across Australia. Most other 3G networks in Australia use the 2100MHz standard but the lower frequency used by Telstra and now Vodafone offers better coverage in basements, lifts and other blackspots.
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth are all covered by the new network. Vodafone plans to upgrade 2,000 towers and build an extra 400 new sites by December 2011.
