Local Broadband Network (LBN Co.)
LBN stands for ‘Local Broadband Network’, which is a private fibre network in Australia. In 2021, the network was taken over by Opticomm. All former LBNCo addresses are now connected to the OptiComm network.
Unlike the Australia-wide NBN Connection, the LBN Network was an independent, privately-owned telecommunications company. It provided Internet service to homes and businesses, primarily new apartment buildings, broad-acre premises, and retirement living communities.
LBN plans were usually available in bundles, meaning that you could get a mobile phone service and/or entertainment options at the same time as your broadband connection. There is also an unbeatable 24/7 customer support team that can help with any queries or technical issues.

FAQs
What does LBN stand for?
LBN stands for Local Broadband Network. It is a fibre-optic-based communication technology designed to deliver high-speed internet access to homes and business premises.
Is LBNCo an FTTP?
Yes, LBNCo is an FTTP (Fibre-To-The-Premises) connection. This means that the fibre optic cable runs directly from the exchange to your premises, providing a dedicated link for your internet access.
What's the difference between NBN and LBN?
NBN is a mix of connection technologies, including FTTN (Fibre-To-The-Node) and HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial). LBN is an FTTP connection that uses fibre optic cable exclusively. This provides higher speeds than NBN connections due to the lack of copper wiring. It also has a better latency and more reliable performance.
Do I need a technician to install LBN?
No, you do not need to hire a technician. With LBN's low copper usage for installation, it is easy for customers to connect to the network without any assistance.
Can I get an LBN connection if I'm in a non-Opticomm area?
No, LBN is only available within OptiComm and former LBNCo-connected communities. To see if you are in the eligible coverage areas, please call Compare Broadband for more information.
