Types of NBN connections in Werribee

The NBN Werribee rollout is already well underway, and much of Werribee is already NBN active, though there are still large areas remaining where the NBN is still under construction. However, the NBN Co have cited that the NBN in Victoria, and everywhere else, should be 100% completed by the end of 2020, so if you’re in an area that’s not yet NBN ready, you shouldn’t have too long to wait. If you already have the NBN and you’re ready to compare Werribee NBN plans, click here.

The NBN is a multi-technology mix, so there are several different types of Werribee NBN connections, including FTTB (Fibre to the Basement), FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), FTTN (Fibre to the Node), HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial), and Fixed Wireless. These NBN connections are of varying quality - some are definitely more efficient than others, but unfortunately, NBN customers don’t get to choose what type they are given; the NBN Co designates different NBN connections to different regions (a policy derisively nicknamed the NBN Lottery). That said, if ever you are unhappy with your NBN connection, you can generally counter a lacklustre NBN performance by opting for an NBN deal that has a good amount of data and a higher speed tier. But if you are experiencing problems with your NBN, the first and best step you can take is to immediately call your NBN provider to see if they can quickly and easily troubleshoot the issue - the lag may not be due to infrastructure, the problem may be as simple as a loosed cable. To find out what NBN connection your home has been allocated, simply enter your address into our Werribee NBN rollout map below (be sure to put your full address for accurate results). The map will tell you if your home is NBN ready, and if it’s not yet ready, it will tell you roughly when you can expect it to be.

Step 1 icon

Fibre to the premises / home

When the NBN project initially commenced, the government at the time intended to roll out fibre optic cabling all the way up to your home or business property. This type of connection is call Fibre to the premises/home

Step 2 icon

Fibre to the node

Mid-way through the NBN roll-out, a change in Government leadership saw some funding constraints which lead to a slightly different roll-out approach for the NBN. This approach involves an amalgamation of original copper systems and fibre optic systems. This is referred to as Fibre to the node (FTTN).

Step 2 icon

Fixed wireless connection

In some cases - particularly in remote locations - it would be impractical or too expensive to physically connect a property to the fibre-optic network. In such cases properties will be connected by a wireless network. This is referred to as a Fixed Wireless NBN connection.
