Types of Internet connections in Cooranbong

If you’re on the hunt for a solid broadband plan for your home or office in Cooranbong, New South Wales, the first thing you’ll need to determine is what internet connection type is best suited to your premises. There are many different internet connection types found around New South Wales, such as the NBN, ADSL2+, Naked DSL, Home Wireless, and Cable; but not all internet connection types are not all suitable for all regions. Internet connection types need to be compatible with their surrounding internet infrastructure; for example, if you live a zone where the NBN has been fully rolled out, you will likely find that there is no longer any ADSL2+ connections in that area, as all ADSL connections are permanently disconnected in areas where the NBN has been fully completed.

Once you have determined which internet connection type is the most accessible for your home or office, you can get to work on finding an ISP (or Internet Service Provider) that can provide you a broadband plan that accommodates your data needs, your monthly budget, and your location. You can scroll through some of the handpicked Cooranbong broadband plans that we’ve detailed below, or, for a more tailor made approach, enter your postcode or suburb into the white search bar above and click  “Compare Now”. As the NBN is a Multi Technology Mix (otherwise known as an “MTM”), there are several different kinds NBN connection types found in Cooranbong, including FTTB (Fibre to the Basement), FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), Fixed Wireless, HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial), and FTTN (Fibre to the Node). Some NBN connection types are known to work a bit more reliably than others, but NBN customers do not get to choose what NBN connection is installed in their home, this a choice made for them by the NBN Co, and it is a decision that is made by the location of the NBN customer’s residence.

The NBN stands for the National Broadband Network, and it is a countrywide, government implemented upgrade to Australia's internet service. Step 1 icon

Fibre to the premises / home

When the NBN project initially commenced, the government at the time intended to roll out fibre optic cabling all the way up to your home or business property. This type of connection is call Fibre to the premises/home

Step 2 icon

Fibre to the node

Mid-way through the NBN roll-out, a change in Government leadership saw some funding constraints which lead to a slightly different roll-out approach for the NBN. This approach involves an amalgamation of original copper systems and fibre optic systems. This is referred to as Fibre to the node (FTTN).

Step 2 icon

Fixed wireless connection

In some cases - particularly in remote locations - it would be impractical or too expensive to physically connect a property to the fibre-optic network. In such cases properties will be connected by a wireless network. This is referred to as a Fixed Wireless NBN connection.
