Types of Internet connections in Dubbo

Looking for a reliable broadband plan for home or office in Dubbo, New South Wales? There are several different kinds of internet connections found in Dubbo, such as Cable, the NBN, ADSL2+, Naked DSL, and Home Wireless. The best home internet connection for you will largely be informed by your location, as not every internet connection type is optimal for every region. For example, if you are in a home that is ready for NBN service, you will not be able to get an ADSL2+ connection working in that house, as all ADSL connections are permanently disconnected in areas where the NBN build has been fully completed. There are also other important factors to keep in mind when choosing your home broadband plan, such as how much you want to spend per month, what kind of things you need the internet for, and how many other people in your household (if any) will be sharing that internet connection with you. Finding the right broadband plan and internet service provider can often be daunting to the uninitiated and the time poor, which is specifically why we here at Compare Broadband do what we can to simplify the process and make broadband comparison quicker and easier for the customer. You can start right now - simply enter your suburb or postcode into our search bar at the top of the page and then click “Compare Now”. Our software will ask you a few simple questions in regards to what you use the internet for and how much you want to spend per month, and then it will scour through literally hundreds of different plans from Australia's leading broadband providers and provide you with a shortlist of the best Busselton broadband deals for your specific location and needs. Types of NBN connections in Dubbo

The NBN stands for the National Broadband Network. It is a countrywide enterprise that is being constructed and maintained by a government body known as the NBN Co. The primary purpose of the NBN is to upgrade Australia’s internet infrastructure by taking the old copper line network system (which was a hand me down from the old landline telephone network) and replacing it with a generally faster and more reliable fibre optic cable network. To find out if your home has been given an NBN upgrade yet, enter your full address into our NBN rollout map below. If your home does not yet have an active NBN service, the NBN rollout map will tell you roughly when you can expect your upgrade to be completed. The NBN rollout map will also tell you what kind of NBN connection type your area has been designated. The different kinds of NBN connection types found in Dubbo including Fixed Wireless, HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial), FTTB (Fibre to the Basement), FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), and FTTN (Fibre to the Node).

Step 1 icon

Fibre to the premises / home

When the NBN project initially commenced, the government at the time intended to roll out fibre optic cabling all the way up to your home or business property. This type of connection is call Fibre to the premises/home

Step 2 icon

Fibre to the node

Mid-way through the NBN roll-out, a change in Government leadership saw some funding constraints which lead to a slightly different roll-out approach for the NBN. This approach involves an amalgamation of original copper systems and fibre optic systems. This is referred to as Fibre to the node (FTTN).

Step 2 icon

Fixed wireless connection

In some cases - particularly in remote locations - it would be impractical or too expensive to physically connect a property to the fibre-optic network. In such cases properties will be connected by a wireless network. This is referred to as a Fixed Wireless NBN connection.
